All blind camps are state-certified. Those with an asterisk are also accredited by the American Camping Association, which adds an additional dimension of safety standards. ACA-Accredited camps ensure key aspects of camp operation, program quality, and the health and safety of campers and staff.

Youth Camp Integrated Model (YCIM) Pilot Program:

NCBC launched the YCIM Pilot Program in 2021 out of the desire to allow younger campers* to experience an integrated camp program with sighted peers.

*Typically ages 7–18 but may vary by location.

How does YCIM work?

Following parent/guardian and camp director consultation and approval, YCIM campers may attend independently or with similar age/same-gender sighted guide assistance on scholarship through NCBC. The parents or guardians of children or youth who are legally blind are invited to contact participating camps to receive more information, as space is limited. The “one NCBC scholarship per camper per year” rule applies to YCIM program locations.
